Moore is Dishonest |
A can of malt liquor would've been a better use of aluminum than this awful DVD. Not only do you get BFC, perhaps the most deceitful documentary ever produced by a filmmaker not working for the 3rd Reich (although F911 may prove me wrong), you also get special features which include a lengthy diatribe by BFC's own narcissistic creator. I strongly implore you to do some research on the net before you consider buying BFC.
Moore's clever editing, deliberate omissions, as well as his vicious bushwacking of Charlton Heston deliver a very skewed perspective; one that rarely jibes at all with reality. The truth is that Moore is actually hurting the liberal cause with his half-truths, manipulations, and flat-out lies. He is not a "man of the people" as he claims, but rather a pampered, pompous, gluttonous, and duplicitous self-promoter. As much was revealed to me when a friend of mine, also a documentary filmmaker, approached Moore at a documentary convention a few years ago.
At the time, my friend was working on his own documentary. He asked Moore if he had five minutes to discuss his documentary. Moore violently responded, "I don't have five minutes for you, I don't have three minutes for you, I don't have one minute for you."
When my friend protested, he was grabbed and escorted away by a couple of Moore's flunkies. Let me remind you that this incident took place at a convention whose primary purpose is for documentarians to exchange ideas. I was flabbergasted when I first heard this story, so I decided to do some research on my own. I discovered what many had already known about the man, and was very disappointed. I beg of you, please consider looking elsewhere if you are interested in the truth. |

More garbage from the Michael Moore emotional exploitation machine... |
| I don't know why anyone goes to see anything of Michael Moore's. I learned one interesting thing in this film--that Canadians like their guns just like Americans. Other than that, this is like every other Michael Moore film--shameless propaganda made to stir the pot for a group that already agrees with him anyway. Michael Moore is just another loser making a buck by generating controversy. It's too bad people simply don't ignore this kind of stuff instead of making a big deal about it and generating interest in it. If you are someone who is passionately anti-gun rights and want to be angered, go waste your money. If you are pro gun-rights and want to be angered by a one-sided opposing view, go waste your money. If you are a moderate and want to be bored, go waste your money. Michael Moore is exactly what he professes to fight, which is hysterically captured in Michael Moore Hates America. More propaganda from a fat guy that thinks he knows everything |
Once again, Moore starts with a good premise...killing people with guns is bad. I think everyone will agree with that statement. But, he goes on to make a series of unrelated arguments, use faulty logic, stage ridiculous situations, and leave the viewere with half the story. Here's what I did not like in the movie:
1) The attempt to establish a link between Columbine and the fact that Lockheed Martin is the main employer in Littleton, CO. Yes, Lockheed makes weapons systems...but what does that have to do with a bunch of D&D playing high school freaks from coming to school and shooting everyone? Absolutely nothing.
2) Why the crusade to stop K-Mart from selling ammunition? Do you think that will do any good? How does that stop anything? It's just another opportunity for Moore to get his fat greasy ass on the screen.
3) Creating the illusion that Charlton Heston gave the "not from my cold dead hands" speech in Denver right after Columbine, as if the NRA rushed him in to save the day. That is not how it happened, and Moore spliced in the "cold dead hands" speech in order to create this belief in your mind. I'm not defending the NRA, but I do believe you should get your facts straight if you're going to make a documentary. Again, this is sensationalism from Moore and he's trying to INFLUENCE YOU.
4) The harrassment of Heston. Charlton Heston let Michael Moore into his home. Charlton's getting up there in the years, and sometimes he's not as quick on his feet as he was in the days he played Moses. Here we have Moore harassing Heston, trying to make him look like a fool. Heston had nothing to do with the death of the child Moore holds up in his fat greasy hands....that was a first class a-hole move from chubs.
There are plenty of inconsistencies, half-truths, erroneous statistics and flat out lies in this film...too many to document in one Amazon review. If he wanted to make a documentary, chubs shouldn't have been so lazy. Propaganda is easy. I'm continually amazed at the left's championing of Moore. He makes me embarrassed to be a non-Republican. |
