Beautiful and Full of Sorrow

I think this is A.F.I's best album yet from the previous I've heard. Their lyrics were always great, but the music didn't fit as it was more punk. In Sing the Sorrow, however, everything is perfect and darker than ever. Very different from previous works. This is my favorite album out of all the other artists I like. It is so dark, melancholy, brooding, and sorrowful I don't know it is just amazing, really amazing. You may think I'm exaggerating, but this is really how I feel since it really pulls on my emotion strings.

First you need to listen to the album as a whole a few times and then replay to listen to the background touches that will really wash beauty over you, then replay listening to the whole part and the little touches altogether.
It is amazing to hear the music that isn't payed attention to, but makes the song as great as it is and as cryptic as the lyrics.
Everything was perfectly combined in the songs. Sing the Sorrow really is a perfect title... everything was perfect. Perfect, perfect, perfect. I don't know how else to say it, really.

Miseria Cantare- The Beginning
This is such a primal kind of song. Dark and the title fits. To Sing Misery or the Misery Song.

The Leaving Song, Part 2
Awsome song with power and pain. An untouchable feeling.

Dancing Through Sunday
Less dark and depressing than the other songs. I suppose that is due to the guitar and the singing. It is wild in a way. It still maintains misery within the song with the help of the lyrics.

Girl's Not Grey
The song that started it all, the first single. A song of loss of faith and sorrow is what I get from this. And a cry for mercy sort of.

Death of Seasons
Awsome song. A feeling of pitch blackness and loathing. I love the little electronic bit in the middle of the song. It was a great touch.

The Great Disapointment
Just what it says, a disappointment. Not the song, but the feeling it gives. Like a loss of hope with loneliness and eternity.

The Leaving Song
Pity and darkness. A feel of being misunderstood which is obvious why with the lyrics. I love this song.

...But Home Is Nowhere
With the story inbetween the two song parts, it is just so tragic and beautiful. Apocalyptic too. I just absolutely love it and have to blast the speaking part. Very beautiful with sorrow.

I recommend this to anyone who needs something dark yet beautiful. This is a must have.

An awesome record...

I just got the AFI 'sing the sorrow' CD, and I'm loving it. The songs 'This Time Immortal' and 'Cold and Silver' must be my favourite songs that AFI has come out with as of yet. Sadly, this is the first CD of theirs i own, because I mostly burn my CDS...but no more...I am from here on buying the other AFI CDs. I am now an AFI fan...If I only had $30 to join the Despair Faction...grrr...Anyways, 5 Stars!!!
