Great for the directionally challenged |
| The Garmin StreetPilot 2610 has worked fine in the month I have owned it. The user interface is faily intuitive and easy to use. You can easily change the displays to suit your needs. You'll probably want to get a larger memory card but the 128MB one will do fine if you don't mind changing the maps for trips occasionally. As with any GPS unit, it's is only as accurate as the maps used - get the map updates when they come out - approximately $150. |

| I recently purchased the 2610. I have very little experience with gps units. The 2610 was very user friendly. I recently took a vacation with my family. The 2610 took us to our destination with no problem and home again. This devise is also very helpful around town. Just push find, addresses, input the address and the unit will direct you to that address. It's great and easy to use. |

Stop your search |
I researched the GPS units for almost 6 months. It's quite confusing with all the brands and models. I finally decided on the Garmin 2610. I prefer it over 2620 because you can remove and replace the storage component (CF card) for future upgrades. The 2620 has an internal hard drive and can not be removed on the units sold today ( used to be able to on older models I have heard). The fact that there are no moving parts on the storage component also makes me feel a bit better. I also have heard that they perform a lot better in cold weather.
if you are not a computer person, get the newer 320/330 but you'll be missing a lot. This unit (the 2610/2620) has a lot more functions. Also, you really do not need the 2 Gig card unless you are going for a coast to coast trip. I just used it for the first time on our trip to Niagara Falls and Toronto and it amazed us. My wife, who hates my toy shopping habits, loved it dearly. You can locate not only roads but also any restaurants, shopping areas, gas stations, etc on this little beauty. Garmin is a class act.
Oh ya, buy it from amazon, they have the best price usually. The price has gone up a bit since I bought it( I got it for 599)but amazon and their service is worth it. |
