great mouse |
I have had this for 7 months now and have yet to change the battery, and it's performed perfect.
I am online most the day every day working or browing the web and the smooth scoll is a nice feature to have.
Once had a logitech but it broke down on me after a about 2 months.
It is also very comfy to hold.
Worth the money! |

Annoying little bugga! |
OK
i bought this mouse.. it came with a fingure print keyboard.
Not robsut at all..
The buttons feel like pieces of flimsy tracing paper about to rip off at any minute (exaduration)
the left mouse button on mine is totally screwed.. you can press lightly and it will repeatidly click rapidly... good for installers... not good for closing windows
and would sombody review the health and safety on that optical light.. i bought a cheap packard bell mouse for £10 with optical thing... it had a safety catch that if you picked it up.. or it was off the surface.. the led would be dimmer... this ms one suprisingly totally overlooks that.. turn this mouse upside down and be blind for all eternity..
The wireless feature has a very VERY VERY short range..
I literally have my reciever 1 foot away from the mouse which is most inconvinient.
That will be all.
Disapointed. |

Dies a little too quick |

Basically it works fine. Comfortable to hold, responsive to clicking. The responsiveness is better than a Kensington corded optical Mouse-In-a-Box that I tried. The Kensington would give me a very slight delay after I clicked the primary button(the left one, I'm right handed), before action was taken. That wouldn't matter much when working in MS Word, but in FPS(first person shooter) games, the left button is used for firing my weapon. That delay caused me to get killed all the time. This Microsoft Wireless Optical 2.0(the original 1.0 doesn't have tilt wheel and extended battery life) does not dissapoint.
This wireless configuration will give a little bit of interference if you run your CB radio a little too close, because they're all in the 27MHz frequency range. Whenever I move the mouse, my CB's squelch will open, force me to turn it up or move it away. The tilt wheel works as advertised, though I seldom scroll horizontally. The scroll wheel was the first to malfunction, on my first purchase 4 months ago. It seems that the dust accumulated through the gap around the scroll wheel had caused it(but it's not designed for you to open up and clean the inside). Battery life is much better than the first generation(V1.0, the one doesn't have the tilt wheel feature. I had one of those before, it died too, then I bought this four months ago). I use the mouse 5 to 8 hours a day. With 1.0 version, I change batteries every week(1600mAh NiMH). Now, it'll last a full month and then some. Not quite the half year battery life as MS advertised, but much better than before.
The other not-so-nice thing about it is that, the Intellipoint mouse driver(for you to use the horizontal scroll) is designed for XP and 2000 ONLY. I use Windows 98 dual boot with XP. In 98, the mouse still works with the default Microsoft PS/2 driver, you just don't get to use the tilt wheel feature.
If not for the shorter than expected life span and the driver arrogance, I'd give it a 5 star... |
