Creative Zen Touch 20 GB MP3 Player

Average rating: Stars
Stars MP3 player perfection.
I was to get an MP3 player during the holidays, about 8 months ago, as a present. The person that was giving me it wanted to give me an iPod. I vehemently refused, being that I hate Apple and all of their products. After doing a bit of research, I chose the Creative Zen Touch. It cost well over a hundred dollars less than the iPod, and has double the battery life of the newest generation.

After using it for eight months, I've found most things about the MP3 player. You can not update the ID3 tags on the player, which is annoying, but I doubt if ANY MP3 player allows you to do that. Still, putting on more songs is a breeze. You can connect it to a USB port and use the player as a portable hard drive, which it shows up as. If you want, you can use their software, which works perfectly fine. I just like clicking and dragging, though. Deleting the songs is easy, just like deleting something from a portable hard drive.

There has been much talk about the touch strip. People say that it is too hard to get to a single song, but I have no problem with it. In fact, I think the strip is a lot more intuitive than the scroll wheel on the iPod, since it goes down the list faster or slower, depending on how quickly you roll your finger down it. I am able to go from A to Z on my player in two finger swipes, easily. And that's something, being that I have about 12 gigs of music on it.

I don't think that there is another player on the market that is as well priced, user friendly, and use-heavy as the Creative Zen Touch. I would, and have, recommend it to anybody in the market.

Stars Quality, reliable player
I've owned the 20 gb zen touch for about a month. After extensive research, very extensive, i decided to get this one. Now after a while, im really loving the thing. The only time it gave me problems was when i found out that i had a faulty usb port. Just for future reference, make sure you don't have a no-name usb port to run this. I was about to return mine because the file transferring was causing problems. Otherwise, transfers are easy and fast. The included software works better than some say. Just don't bother with its insist on making a pc music library.

As for the player itself:
- Great menu system, good amount of settings to change things according to your preference.
- Its got time and date!
- battery life is incredible, it may not be 24 hours, but it still blows my mind. My listening has never been interrupted by low battery.
- touchpad can be a bit frustrating, but once you get used to it, it works out ok. you can change the sensitivity.
- dedicated volume buttons is one feature that i think kills the ipod. I find the ipod's volume system extremely annoying.
- The size is just fine with me. It's not much of an issue. In fact, it feels sturdy and well constructed.
- hold switches are always good
- includes great headphones (although im a little disappointed creative decided to go with white headphones)
-random buttom is very useful.
-you can't make your own playlists on the machine itself. A bit of a bummer.
- nice leather case, but it covers all buttons.
-it comes with an outlet charger. Apple made my sister buy her own..
- Plays both wmas and mp3s
- Sound quality is just about the best you can find on a music player. It's loud and pure. It can drive some big headphones and my stereo
- Nice large screen.
- You cannot remove the battery, but i doubt this 24 hour battery with wear out too quickly.

Overall, excellent value because it includes headphones, usb cord, wall charger, case, and software. Good price also. I'm picky about my audio players and I recommend it.

My son found this MP3 player to be very satisfactory. It is too bad that there are not many accessories for it. Other than that, this product is great. It just goes to show that you can get something better than an iPod for MUCH less.
